Inclusive Latrobe
Project summary:
In 2021, the Latrobe Health Assembly partnered with Urban Scale Interventions (USI) to draw on their expertise in creative engagement and innovative cultural and health interventions. The learnings from this consultation were documented in the Looking Forward Latrobe (LFL) report.
The Inclusive Latrobe project was a recommended action of the LFL report, and this project sits alongside the Creative Latrobe and Connecting Up Latrobe projects.
The overarching vision of Inclusive Latrobe is to improve inclusivity and reduce discrimination of at- risk populations within the Latrobe Valley over the next 2-3 years.
The five populations that have been determined to work with on developing targeted actions include people from migrant backgrounds, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and older and younger people.
Nous Consulting completed a Diversity and Inclusion Review of the Latrobe Health Assembly in 2023 to establish a baseline of the current level of inclusion and diversity demonstrated across the organisation’s operations and practices. The process of this review involved Nous Consulting conducting a range of surveys, focus groups, and interviews with Latrobe Valley community members and Latrobe Health Assembly staff, Board, and Assembly Members.
The learnings from this review are detailed in a report developed by Nous Consulting which outlines several recommended actions that will inform the activities to be undertaken during the subsequent phases of the Inclusive Latrobe project.
