Live4Life

  • Project details:
  • Project commencement: December 1, 2023

  • Funded by: The Latrobe Health Assembly

  • Project delivered by: Live4Life

Project summary:

Live4Life is a mental health education and youth suicide prevention model designed specifically for rural and regional communities. Live4Life communities deliver accredited Teen and Youth Mental Health First Aid training in secondary schools and the wider community; create local partnerships to lead conversations about mental health that reduce stigma; and promote and empower young leaders as mental health ambassadors.

In partnership with the Latrobe Health Assembly, Life4Life is being piloted in the Latrobe Valley. Latrobe Health Assembly has recently recruited a dedicated project coordinator to oversee the development and implementation of the Live4Life model in the Latrobe Valley. The project will be guided by the Latrobe Valley Live4Life Partnership Group, comprising of schools, community advocates, mental health, and community organisations.

“Projects such as Live4life are so important to our region and provide vital assistance for schools and young people navigating an increasingly complex society. The grouping of key support services, which promote positive adolescent mental and emotional health outcomes, makes a real difference in supporting our young people to become resilient, robust and active participants in their developmental journey. At Lavalla, we look forward to proactively partnering with other local and regional organisations to better prepare and empower our students for the challenges that they face” – Principal Lavalla Catholic College, Ryan Greer

The Latrobe Health Assembly have commenced training local instructors to delivery mental health education within their communities, and have plans to establish a CREW of young people to support the program in early 2025.

The Latrobe Health Assembly invites assembly members to register their interest in participating in this partnership group and the ongoing implementation of Live4Life across the Latrobe Valley.
