Creative Latrobe

Project summary:

Creative Latrobe is a partnership between Latrobe Health Assembly and Latrobe City Council.

The project aims to implement exciting and bold art activations and installations across Latrobe Valley to increase visitation and community pride in areas that might typically be avoided.

Kicking things off in early 2022, a mural was completed at Centenary Park in Yinnar by local artist Steve Bechaz. The mural compliments a new playpark that attracts families, bringing life to the façade of a shed that borders the area.

With sites from Traralgon, Morwell, Moe, Churchill, and one small town selected with community input, the planning for public art projects is underway.

The types of art for all locations will be guided by community who are encouraged to think big – anywhere from mural, sculpture, digital, light, sound-based, kinetic or a combination of art forms.
