ABC – Adolescents Building Connections (ABC) in a positive way
The Adolescents Building Connections (ABC) program, run through Quantum, delivers an intervention based response to family violence. It is a targeted and responsive program that encourages positive behaviour choices, while supporting young people to form healthy relationships in their lives.
The program seeks to work with young people who display traits of aggression, violence or bullying behaviours. At the moment, individuals are often identified only after they have an interaction with the justice system.
Quantum successfully recruited to the two facilitator positions in July of 2019 and both facilitators commenced in August.
The ABC program commenced in schools in term 4 2019 and have successfully completed four sessions within this term, two sessions at Traralgon College Junior Campus and two at Lowanna years 7-9. Feedback from the participants and wellbeing teams has been positive and further sessions are set for term 1 of next year.
Facilitators have been working towards running community groups in term one in addition to having four further groups scheduled with Lowanna and Traralgon College. Kurnai College is planning to also come on board.
Term 1 and 2 of 2020 look to be shaping up to be productive and on track to meet project targets.
